Über das Fellatelier
Im Jahr 2021 habe ich das Fellatelier mit dem Ziel eröffnet, einen anderen Pflegestandard für Drahthaar-Hunderassen anzubieten – einen Ort, an dem Sie sicher sein können, dass Ihr Hund fachgerecht von Hand getrimmt und nicht geschnitten oder rasiert wird.
Als Engländer liegt mir die traditionelle und rassetypische Pflege von Drahthaarhunden besonders am Herzen. Ich pflege Hunde gerne so, wie sie um die Jahrhundertwende aussahen – zu einer Zeit, bevor einige Zuchtprogramme für Ausstellungshunde zu immer extremeren Fellstrukturen führten. Das Fell wurde dadurch bei vielen sportlichen und ursprünglich funktionalen Hunden zunehmend hinderlich, unpraktisch und aufwendiger in der Pflege.
Gute Beispiele hierfür sind der Scottish Terrier, West Highland White Terrier, Cocker Spaniel und Schnauzer, um nur einige zu nennen. Viele dieser Hunde tragen heute deutlich mehr Fell, als es bei ihren Vorfahren vor den 1930er-Jahren der Fall war. Diese Veränderungen entstanden in erster Linie aus Gründen des Ausstellungswesens und leider nicht immer mit Blick auf die ursprüngliche Funktionalität, Gesundheit und Alltagstauglichkeit der Rasse.
Ein Drahthaarfell kann ebenso komplex wie wunderschön sein. Nicht jedes Fell ist gleich und nicht jeder Hund benötigt die gleiche Vorgehensweise. Genau deshalb sind mir die richtigen, rassetypischen Pflegetechniken so wichtig. Je nach Rasse, Fellstruktur und individuellem Zustand des Fells passe ich die Pflege entsprechend an.
Sie können darauf vertrauen, dass ich für Ihre Drahthaar-Rasse stets die passenden und fachgerechten Techniken anwende, mit Respekt vor dem natürlichen Fell und dem ursprünglichen Erscheinungsbild der Rasse.

About Fellatelier
In 2021, I opened Fellatelier with the aim of offering a different standard of grooming for wire-coated breeds – a place where you can be confident that your dog will be professionally hand-stripped rather than clipped or cut.
As an Englishman, traditional and breed-specific grooming of wire-coated dogs is particularly close to my heart. I like to groom dogs in the way they would have looked around the turn of the century – before some show-dog breeding programmes began producing increasingly extreme coats. As a result, the coats of many athletic and originally functional breeds became heavier, less practical and more difficult to maintain.
Good examples include the Scottish Terrier, West Highland White Terrier, Cocker Spaniel and Schnauzer, to name just a few. Many of these dogs now carry considerably more coat than their ancestors would have had before the 1930s. These changes were primarily driven by the demands of the show ring and, unfortunately, not always with consideration for the original functionality, practicality and everyday needs of the breed.
A wire coat can be just as complex as it is beautiful. Not all coats are the same, and not every dog requires the same approach. This is why correct, breed-specific grooming techniques are so important to me. Depending on the breed, coat texture and individual condition of the coat, I adapt the grooming accordingly.
